“76% of teams are not doing mission-critical work.”
— Atlassian 2024 State of Teams Report
At Team ‘25 in Anaheim, Atlassian unveiled the Strategy Collection—a new enterprise offering designed to solve one of the most stubborn challenges in large organizations: Connecting strategy, people, and execution.
This launch follows the introduction of the Teamwork Collection, which focuses on team-level collaboration and Agile workflows. While that collection empowers delivery teams, the Strategy Collection is purpose-built for the C-suite, PMO, HR, and portfolio leaders who need visibility and alignment across the enterprise.
The Eficode team and I believe this collection marks a shift in how organizations approach strategic planning, turning it from an annual exercise into a continuous, data-driven discipline.
Why strategy planning is still broken
Many enterprises still treat strategy like a one-time event. Strategic goals are set at the beginning of the year, presented in board decks, and then buried under daily operational complexity.
Here's what we typically see:
- Leadership teams define goals, but they’re not connected to the work tools delivery teams use.
- Workforce planning happens in HR systems with no tie to live project data.
- Financial tracking exists in siloed systems, far removed from the actual initiatives being funded.
Imagine this scenario. A global bank aims to become "the most trusted digital-first institution" by 2026. But three months in, leadership has no way of knowing if teams are working on initiatives that move the needle. Funding is locked in annual cycles, teams are staffed based on historic norms, and there’s no feedback loop between execution and strategic intent.
The result? Good strategy; poor execution.
Introducing the Strategy Collection: Strategy, talent, and work in one place
The Strategy Collection includes three deeply integrated apps that address this disconnect head-on:
Focus: The living strategy hub
Focus gives enterprise leaders one place to define strategic priorities (called Focus Areas), map them to OKRs, connect ongoing work, assign budgets, and see real-time progress.
For example, a European telecom company uses Focus to visualize its “Network Modernization” strategy. As new towers are deployed and modernization programs progress, executives can see how goals, funding, and team allocation are tracked—without opening a single slide deck.
Talent: Strategic workforce planning
Talent is Atlassian’s new workforce planning app, which helps leaders map skillsets to strategic initiatives, allocate people to what matters most, and understand hiring needs.
Here’s a scenario to help you. An e-commerce scale-up uses Talent to map its AI engineers to the “Personalized Shopping Experience” focus area. It immediately identifies gaps in key capabilities and flags where hiring or contractor support is needed to hit Q3 goals.
Jira Align: Portfolio delivery and execution
Jira Align remains the backbone for agile-at-scale planning. It connects Jira (and other tools) to strategic themes, giving portfolio and program leaders clarity on how execution aligns to strategy.
A logistics firm using SAFe links portfolio epics in Jira Align to Focus Areas like “Supply Chain Resilience.” It tracks whether delivery plans align with enterprise goals and whether funding is being spent effectively.
Pricing and why it’s more beneficial
The Strategy Collection is priced at $129 per user, which is unchanged from the previous list price of Jira Align alone.
Here’s why this is significant:
- Focus and Talent are now included at no extra cost for existing Jira Align customers.
- Enterprise Insights, which used to be a paid add-on, is now bundled free with Jira Align inside the collection.
- One entitlement covers all three apps—users licensed for one are licensed for all.
Value snapshot:
Before:
- Jira Align: $129 per user.
- Focus: Not available.
- Enterprise Insights: ~$20K+ annually.
- Talent: Not available.
Now:
- Strategy Collection: $129 per user.
- Includes Jira Align, Focus, Talent, and Enterprise Insights.
This bundling brings better ROI, simpler licensing, and richer functionality, especially for organizations serious about transforming how strategy and execution are connected.
The key advantage: Real-time enterprise alignment
What sets the Strategy Collection apart is the systemic integration of goals, work, people, and funds—all built on the Atlassian Cloud Enterprise foundation.
No more:
- OKRs in Confluence, delivery plans in Jira, and budgets in spreadsheets.
- Meetings just to triangulate data.
- Disconnected decision-making.
Instead, leaders get a single source of truth that is:
- Real-time.
- Connected.
- Actionable.
