Challenge
Ilmarinen (former Etera) wanted to streamline IT operations. They had identified areas of improvement in their working habits and needed an outside perspective to find the bottlenecks
which prevented them from functioning as agilely, cost efficiently and at the greatest quality level possible.
Solution
Contribyte (now part of Eficode) conducted an assessment: including workshops and interviews to understand Ilmarinen’s practices and discover how operations, information management and ICT suppliers were working together.
After comparing agile and lean best practices with Ilmarinen’s way of doing things, Ilmarinen was presented twenty concrete suggestions for improvement. The proposals included Kanban-thinking model utilization, for Ilmarinen to use in order to prioritize their most important tasks.
Benefits
As a result of the evaluation, Ilmarinen gained a better picture of its activities and improved awareness. As a result, they could then start building change into business-as-usual practices by focusing on the most appropriate development targets. Ilmarinen also received concrete proposals to use in activity planning.
