Kaleva Media boosts its product management competences through training

Kaleva Media expanded through acquisitions, and improved its product management with training to meet the new situation.

“It felt like they did their homework well in advance. Even though the preparation time was short, they had clearly put effort into planning the training and understanding the media side.”

As part of its growth strategy, Kaleva Media has acquired traditional media companies and new businesses from various industries to expand its overall offering.

According to Kaleva Media’s Development Manager Eino Järvelä and Chief Technology and Development Officer Tommi Silfverhuth, the training provided by Contribyte, now part of Eficode, has helped develop product management.

“We started thinking about a shared model that would align their expertise with our needs. Thanks to them for how quickly they were able to respond to our needs,” Järvelä says.

Discussion-based training

“We opted for a two-day training, which was very helpful for us. Our product managers and other people working with products participated,” Järvelä says.

Part of the training involved traditional slide presentations, but there was also a lot of discussion. Kaleva Media gained a better understanding of the big picture. Thanks to the training, the company can now focus more effectively on the key aspects that drive better results.

“It felt like they did their homework well in advance. Even though the preparation time was short, they had clearly put effort into planning the training and understanding the media side,” Silfverhuth notes.

Everyone was ‘speaking the same language’ after the training

The training taught product managers at Kaleva Media to use the same language and terms. Now that they are all ‘singing from the same hymn sheet’ it will be easy to move forward.

“I would happily recommend them. The training provides a strong basis for understanding products and their management,” Silfverhuth concludes.
